ST: Red Sox @ Twins 3/19

10 Days!! Mookie is looking to lead this team to the first back to back champs since 01′!!! We are getting so close!!

Red Sox News

Today: Cora announced that Dustin Pedroia will start the season on the injured list. He will travel with the team to Arizona for the remaining ST games, and then return to Fort Myers to play in several more minor league games until they clear him to play. Cora made sure to mention there was not a setback, just that he does not want to rush it. Pedrioa himself mentioned he is not worried about getting back on the field on a certain date, he is looking at the next three years (until his contract expires).

The Red Sox made their second round of cuts today, sending the following players down: C Oscar Hernández; RHPs Zach Putnam, Erasmo Ramírez, Josh Smith, and Domingo Tapia; INFs C.J. Chatham, Bobby Dalbec, and Chad De La Guerra; and OFs Bryce Brentz, Tate Matheny, and Cole Sturgeon.

One name that I did not mention was Darwinzon Hernandez, some call him the top prospect in the system. He is still in big league camp.

The Lineups

Great looking lineup. Both of these lineups could very well be the same on Opening Day next Thursday.

Important Moments

Again the Sox scored quick! Three days in a row for that! Mookie drew a walk, Devers (yes he is still on FIRE) and then JD singles to right to drive mookie in! In the bottom of the first, Eovaldi takes the mound and his velocity is already right there! His first three pitches go as follows: 98, 100, 99. Wow. He is still working on his location though because several went right down broadway; Polanco hits a double with one out, and the Rosario takes one DEEP over the RF wall to take the lead 2-1.

Besides JD’s second hit of the day, innings 2, 3 and 4 went quick. In the bottom of the fifth, Bogey misses an easy liner which allows the speedy Buxton to get on. He then steals second, then advances to third on a pop to right, and then scores on a Polanco single. Polcano comes around on a Cruz double which we are lucky didn’t go out. After 5, Sox are trailing 4-1.

Workman took over in the 6th, pithing well except for back to back hits on curveballs down the chute; but got the job done scoreless. Weber then took over and pitched back to back 1-2-3 innings. He has looked nice, I can see him being a contributor this season for the Sox. The Sox made a little noise after two outs in the seventh: back to back singles for Sam Travis and Benny, but Leon K’d to end the inning.

Final Box Scores

Eovaldi’s command was spotty to start his outing, but overall: he had much more strength than expected this early. JD looked nice, hitting two opposite field singles. Weber also did his job: with 2 scoreless frames with 3 Ks.

Stay tuned and i’ll catch ya tomorrow. Talk to you then 🤙🏽
